if i have a brother like that, i'll probably go crazy if he keeps on blabbering....
yup, one brother and two sisters....fortunately they're not like that, and fortunately again, i'm the most anime-obsessed, they just watch casually......
Uh, not really. Nothing being said but the wind making a screamish sound while trying to slash open the door so we could esca- I mean enjoy some fresh air.
Ah, I can't make games. 'Tis just my dream job. ^^;
But I can ramble about stuff I have planned:
The Dungeon of 100 Trials is based on a comic of the same name that I drew in middle school. It's a 2-D platformer for the DS that derives elements from Megaman, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario, and Sonic. The titular hero of the game is named Soda Thief, and he looks like this:
The game is literally divided into one hundred trials, divided into three categories. The first is Action Trials, which are the basic platforming stages. The second is Funky Trials, which are random stages that may have minigames or puzzle-ish challenges. The third is Boss Trials, which are just boss levels. The one hundred trials are divided into ten parts, each containing ten trials. The flow chart per part goes like this:
When fighting enemies, you can defeat some of the small ones by simply jumping on them, but you can also use a collection of weapons and tools as you unlock more, like in Megaman or Legend of Zelda. You'll start with the basic sword and receive the Walrus Blaster early on. You can later get upgrades and different ammo for these two. Then there are the spring-loaded boxing glove, eggplant boomerang, tennis racket of thunder, Poseidon's Spork, and others.
Many of the Funky Trials I have thought of are taken from existing games. Ideas such as kart races, stages from Mario vs. Donkey Kong, the stages from Crash Bandicoot Warped where Cocoa rides a tiger, and rhythm based dancing in Elite Beat Agents style. The dance trials feature original songs such as Ninja Man, as well as existing songs such as Run it Back Again by Corbin Bleu.
Mario has coins, Sonic has rings, Donkey Kong has bananas, and Soda has coins, rings, cakes, and vegetables. Coins are spread out in trials, just like in Mario games, rings are dropped by enemies, cakes are earned by completing trials, and vegetables literally have to be watered and harvested, and there are different vegetables for different parts of the game, ranging from cabbage to eggplants to multipurpose scallions. (I play one measly Harvest Moon game and this is what happens)
As for the story, there's no deep plot, but each part has a different setting and respective boss. The trials in the first part have a cave-like environment, while another has a snowy environment, and other locations include Dragon Valley, Pony Canyon, Monkey Mountain, and Funky Fountain.
And there's a wide cast of characters. Soda's allies include Kalzamber, (a magic-using bear) Margot-Catherine Muffine, (aka MC Muffin) Young Pip, (a transforming chibi ghost) Agent Galaxy, (not actually part of an agency) and Kluxorion (the farming tutor/chicken). The first boss you fight is a huge dragon named Disasteroxuga Infinifoil Warp Dragon Wyclef, the fourth oldest dragon of the D.I.W.D. family. Other enemies include Captain Banana, the Snow Master, and the Cookie Hunter, and guest villains including Doopliss (from Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door) and Darth Vader.
Then there are minigames unlocked after completing respective Funky Trials, such as kart racing and dancing. The soundtrack is eclectic, ranging from party music to dramatic orchestrated music, then there's the catchy bgm from my Toy Story game for Game Boy. That's pretty much all the details I can think of. A few more:
In the dance minigame, Soda will do the robot and moonwalk at the same time.
As the game is being developed I will make a blog like Sakurai Masahiro did for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and post screenshots with witty captions like, "Captain Banana will attack by throwing plastic life-size monkeys. I'm not sure whether that makes perfect sense or none at all."
Haha, hi Erisu. You actually picked a good day to comment. Today was very tiring so I don't have energy to bitch about school and other things. Pacer = epic failure. How's yourself?
meh, there is this video game idea that I've been working on called The Dungeon of 100 Trials, and it will include locations like Pony Canyon and Monkey Mountain. And on Monkey Mountain, there will be a place called Funky Fountain. By the way, I googled Funky Fountain.
Fortunately, there's no place actually called Funky Fountain, although there were a bunch of results on Google. The first thing I found was this:
