I've had my eye on those two as well. I saw the first episode of Rainbow when it premiered but I hate waiting around for the releases and forgot all about it shortly after. I haven't watched a ton of sports anime but I love the ones I have. Adachi Mitsuru (Touch, Cross Game, etc) is a genius.
Also Urasawa (Monster, 20th Century Boys) started doing serial mangas with Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl, which I regrettably could not finish because it did not have a reliable subbing group.
The new FMA is by far better because it goes on significantly longer and has a proper ending. However, it is in too much of a hurry at the start to get past all the story covered by the older series and those early episodes suffer for it.
I haven't been watching much anime since I've been working like 55 hours a week and my hdd just failed... Also the new stuff from the last few seasons has looked pretty awful. I am getting a few days off in february though so I should be doing some watching then.
Kimagure Orange Road! I watched some of that show after I first watched Maison Ikkoku and it seemed pretty cool, I just got discouraged because it seemed really episodic. I hear the final movie is quite a departure from the series, lacking a lot of the humor and being kind of depressing.
Unlike shitty hollywood movies, whenever an anime studio decides to base an anime off a novel, they somehow make it really good. (not only is Kemono the same studio that did Moribito, its the same original author as well)
Kemono is a slow starting kid friendly fantasy anime. After ten episodes I'm just now seeing where it wants to go, but the episodes before it were tasty slice of life that worked hard to create the setting.
Aside from two annoying side characters I've pretty much enjoyed everything I've seen, but I'd only recommend it to you if you don't mind the show revolving around a kid.
Yeah man, I watched the first episodes of both series back to back and came away liking the original more. The music is better, the voice acting is superior, errytang is better.

I had heard Tenshinhan's VA passed away. :( Also, Roshi's voice sounds kinda crappy too in DBK, I can't stand it for it!
