This is the official MAL's discussion of the anime and games in general.

I'll just put my two cents with the starters since Honestly the reveals is a bit meh to me in general unlike last gen I was excited with a few things:

Rowlett: Pretty cool pokemon and I may pick this for Moon. I hope this will be the first Grass starter once its in its final stage (Hidden ability possibly) that will be real good to the point it will be moved to Uber tier (If you are into competitive) like Blaziken and Greninja before.

Litten: I like it as well. Its a tossup between this and Rowlett to be my pick for the journey. It has potential, but we will see.

Popplio: And I thought Oshawott would be my least favorite water starter of all time. I always preferred the water starters until 5th gen and Froakie brought me back to using Water thanks to how useful Protean and its moveset was, but I don't like this thing at all. Sorry Popplio fans.

I agree, I'm not very fold of Popplio. I'm probably going to end up deciding between Rowlett and Litten on my first play through based on their final evolution.

I'm actually incredibly excited as far as the games are concerned since there are so many new things being added, and I love that we are getting a more updated RPG look rather than the usual top-down view. The fact they have Pokemon you can call to ride makes me assume that HMs are finally a thing of the past. It was always frustrating having to have crappy Pokemon in my party for HM use rather than having my full team with me. In a lot of cases some of my Pokemon ended up so under-level compared to the others that I ended up never using them after going through all of the effort breeding them.

I really like the new Alolan forms they have been adding. It really adds a new depth to the Pokemon world. I feel it should have been used a long time ago. Instead of having a completely brand new type of Pokemon over and over it's nice to see a more realistic approach with differences based on their location. The only Pokemon so far I really don't like is the Sandshrew/Sandslash chain. I like their designs but still having "Sand" in their names feels a bit off when they are not ground type. Even the Japanese names use "Sand" as well. The fact they are shaking things up a bit by not having the traditional gym setting also is nice to see.

As far as the anime, I am incredibly disappointed. Not only am I really bothered by all of the build up since the very begging with how Serena felt about Satoshi, but also the whole build up between him and Gekkouga as well with the Kizuna Genshou. He has this special Pokemon that he has created such a bond with, and he is going to just dump him off like every other Pokemon before. I know I was expecting too much but I was hoping this would truly be the end for Satoshi's journey and we would get a new main character for the anime. The face he has that stupid look on his face in the CoroCoro promotion without a care in the world sort of irritates me too. It makes me feel like he has some kind of deep psychological issues of being abandoned by his father so he ends up doing the same thing to his Pokemon whenever he goes away somewhere new. I have officially given up on anything ever changing with the anime. The only good thing that has happened recently was how high quality a lot of the animation has been.

I am really excited about the games in general. Gen 5 was one of my favorites but, despite adding a lot of good things and loving X & Y, Gen 6 was kind of bad in terms of gameplay. Why are those games so easy? It really bothers me. This time it feels like there are going to be some hard boss battles and I´m all into it.

Starters are cool and I agree 100% with you (except Oshawott is bro tier). The alchemy theme also seems nice. Alolan forms are a genious way to get some better typing for Gen 1 mons (which is really terrible) and to not flood the series with even more Pokémon (because there will be too many soon or later).

Some stuff that bothers me though includes: Stupid Rotom Dex, UBs being new Pokémon (I hope they´re not) and Gyms being completly out of the game (I don´t want the Island Challenges to simply replace them. I´d prefer it to be some other challenge on the game).

I don´t discuss Pokémon anime unless it is Pokémon: The Origin.

Well I know about that but the thing is Game Freak needs to please the old fans of the series as well. And they´ve done that in the past with BW2 but very poorly since Challenge Mode can not be played since the beggining of the game. They should do the same but with it being available at the moment you start the game.

I actually love ORAS, mainly because of the updated graphics and the story, and I grew up with Gen 3 (which is IMO one of the best generations). I do miss the Battle Frontier a lot though. The Battle Maison is just too boring and a complete waste of time.

For me I'm excited for gen 6 to come out, but all the leeks I've seen have somewhat put a cold bucket of water over my head and soaked me numb. I like all the starters but i am not thrilled by one of litters possible evolutions. Though the rockruff elvolutions look like they'll be cool to get. As for the anime I don't like where the trailer was going with the whole school ideal.
