| Shimada try harder for this. Rei taking care of him. With his illness still practicing so hard. What a good man. Never give up. |
| Hm.. This time Rei is taking care of the a bit sick Shimada.. A bit helping him, rather than taking care.. But still interesting.. Maybe even the first time we see him doing something like this.. Well.. Rei also takes care of his sister Kyouko.. On lengths he can.. But this with Shimada a bit reminds me of time, when Kawamoto sisters took care of him during Rei's illness on like New Year's eve, or some time around that it was.. And I think that Rei is taking some care of his sister.. At least in their talks.. He could really be more aggressive.. Or just ridicule her in the answer.. But he tries to not go in there.. And even gives some good words here and there, like question, why she chose that guy.. It's important question, really, for Kyouko to think upon.. And to answer for herself.. But also I won't say Rei is mother Teresa with Kyouko or something, completely self-sacrificing or something, that's not the case either.. Either way.. Their situation really can go in any way.. Kyouko's and Rei's, I mean.. |
| This is the first time I've seen a anime character show real chronic pain like Shimada does. It's interesting how he navigates pain while being a class A professional shogi player. Can't wait get to know more of his character! |

| Shimada's backstory was great; another case of someone trudging on because of expectations. I didn't know he was suffering from chronic stomachaches though. Impressive how he's still a class A player. I can't figure out his age though. |

| Mr. Shimada is indeed a hard-worker and good person... One of the most fascinating supporting character I've ever seen. Who turned bro into an eepy car. |

| At first I thought Shimada was just going to be another throw away character but he became one of the best in the entire show. Also animation is gorgeous and varied. |
| Looks like Shimada is playing shogi on behalf of his hometown, so that they can finally get a master from their place. |
