Mikasa actually looks pretty good wow. The school castes was super interesting, I remember some stuff between Eren and Historia which pushed the Eren father theories even further lol

Assuming is the same dialogue as the manga, the scene is basically Isayama talking to himself and it's strange that he himself "criticized" the ending so openly through Armin.

I heard that there was also a shot of the well-known tree seen in the post-credits of the series (needs to be 100% confirmed). It makes me wonder if there would be implications for the future of the AoT universe and the franchise, but it certainly fuels the theories that we could see a sequel of sorts at some point (the series actually left some room for that), as Isayama is heavily inspired by "Muv-Luv Alternative".

Is the "updated visuals" just the blu ray visuals or did MAPPA go back and touch up scenes?

I think somehow I dislike the ending a little bit lesser now, xD. I’ve read heaps of theories and I came to respect the decision of Eren’s portrayal but man, I wish they just took out that last bit of Mikasa seeking closure with that kiss. Even if Eren’s nerves were still intact making it a legitimate smooch, I just couldn’t. One thing the movie did do is more significance on the parallel of what could’ve been had Mikasa gone through with that little confession (if y’all remember) and that really helped, I’m just going to assume she was stuck in those memories.

Mikasa not showing more annoyance towards Ymir pretty much controlling everything just to end her wicked state is still a little disappointing. Just a line or phrase of that would’ve made it so much more genuine and realistic, imo. Ymir’s smile in the background during the defiance scene (Mikasa slashing Eren’s head, representing what could’ve been between her relationship with King Fritz but still sharing feelings) does hurt a little bit harder too, I’ll admit.

Also, I thought the nearly 2.5 hr screentime was a little daunting but it breezed by. Guess I really forgot about this part considering I even rewatched the final episode within 12 hours time when it first came out. With all these mind, I think it would be fair I award this a very generous 7/10. It truly is the end of the series now.

Well, they could do the sequel with the kid and dog but please don’t. Wouldn’t mind seeing a spin off with the goth Mikasa, serious Armin and compriser Eren though, lol. It was hilarious that they teased us about this at the very start of the film, but I don’t complain. Thank you!

Finally finished Attack on Titan The Last Attack on Theaters last night (2/10)

They added a couple of new scenes to actually give others some more screen time (Like Historia) and change some music here and there. I think the pacing is much better than the TV Special.

I always believed they should have made the finale arc a movie to begin with instead of just a TV special episode. Also, for some reason there are people crying/sobbing during that scene with Eren and Mikasa.

I mean you already watched and knows what happens, so I'm just surprised people still feel that way even now.

New credit scene is such a fan teaser. Honestly, it shared what each fandom thinks about the franchise as a whole this past 10 years or so. It also gave me perspective on how big Attack on Titan is really.

They could have easily expanded this into a few more years, but I just had a feeling Kodansha forced Isayama to rush the ending of the work (He literally apologizes/cries on public with the way the work ended).

Anyways, I think the IP still has some life will probably milk through merchandise just like Evangelion.

I wouldn't mind if they made another one in the same universe, but a different concept (Titans actually being real giants/monsters instead of experimented people).

Definitely hype for the BD and will be buying for sure. I hope it has 4K option as well!

@SomaHeir To many rewatching something a good time later doesn't lead to dulled emotions.
For me it was a bit different. Today's premiere, was the first time I finally saw the ending. In retrospect I wish I'd watched it at home, so that I could just fully feel whatever I felt without holding things in and minding people around me, without them laughing or making dumb noises at random points, being distracted and having to leave etc. A scum of humanity prevented me from doing so as someone spoiled me that some girl kills some guy 2 years ago. I willed it out of my mind and still watched the penultimate episode when it dropped. Due to MAPPA's horrendous release schedule the finale would release three quarters of a year later. A week after watching it I googled to see who said a certain sentence, the search result preview respoiled me based on the manga and confirmed the spoiler, which then soured me even further. Then at the end of the year, I'd have to rewatch the first part so I could finally watch the thing that was definitively spoiled for me. As a result so I never watched the final episode before today.

Eren was right, everyone else should just die. If everyone's dead, nobody can spoil my favourite shows anymore.

Anyway, the post-credit (
) was really nice, giving some closure.

It was nice watch, even as casual SnK hater... like it's funny how this movie contain best and worst elements of this story/series. That "baby scene" made me remember why I originally loved SnK.
So I don't regret going to theater to see this movie.

And I knew bare minimum about post credit scene so it was hilarious how I basically agree with "school Armin". If I was in that theater you would hear me in the background shouting "That's it?! They sacrificed so much only for Paradise island being nuked in the end?!!"

Also "The Founder Ymir was in love with Karl Fritz" didn't aged especially well.

maybe I could frame it better but basically I hate ending and it made me really dislike whole series, while in the same time I don't go everywhere saying SnK is shit. I just don't engage with this community.

Cool movie. I think they reanimated a lot of scenes (don’t quote me on that), but man—it really reminded me how bland and uninspired MAPPA’s original OST is. The only good tracks are the ones from the WIT Studio days that they just reused.

Watched this end of February but I forgot it had a entry on MAL lol. Anyway, my cinema experience was actually bad, the audio got cut at the freedom scene, it stayed like that for almost 5mins and movie was forced to start again. At end when credits are showing alongside with the future of Paradis Island they turned on the super bright lights trying to make people leave. And on "divisive scenes" there was one guy behind me forcing laughs and shouting "this is so bad" which is certainly wasn't pleasant. Not to mention, the actual room itself was pretty simple so the audio and screen size were mediocre.

As the movie itself, if you were a fan some differences were noticeable. I could definitely tell some scenes were faster and others were updated visually. Legacy wise, this is the definitive way of seeing the end of AOT from now on (even though everyone will only watch the specials anyway since barely anyone will search about it).

My opinion of the conclusion as a whole didn't changed. The first part actually reminded me of the peak AOT moments, from the freedom scene showing horror with perfect directing to the Hange sacrifice showing how devastating this show can make you feel to the "cliffhanger" showing how the whole experience is so hype. But I definitely feel some stuff weren't explained properly, specially regarding Ymir. Funny enough Gothkasa does make a solid point saying this might have been left to interpretation on purpose, but can't shake the feeling some elements just can't be explained without contradictions. Ultimately, after S3P2, there was high standards regarding how the show would conclude, and putting those standards to evaluate how it went, it was objectively disappointing.

However, "disappointing" isn't the same as bad. Seen way too many people trying to impose this movie being bad as the consensus, when at worst case the conclusion has bad aspects about it. Even if it was in the bad level, that simply does not erase the objective quality AOT had as a whole. Will always defend this as the best anime series of all time, even with an ending that didn't lived up to its high expectations. And I hope the fact that I watched this with a packed theater shows that even with some people trying to erase the impact this anime had, it will never go away. AOT will live forever on

Finally saw this. Honestly doesnt look tht different from the original finale. Then again it was already great quality to begin with. I wouldve much preferred they go back and enhance episodes 1-16 of season 4, but that aint gonna sell. I think its fine to acknowledge without being called "ungrateful" that Wit wouldve made season 4 a lot better. There weren't really any "holy shit" animation monents in this season unfortunately. Anyways I think I'm gonna stop following the milking of this series now

I’m still appalled by how Isayama essentially chose to forget what happened in the early seasons—especially how much Annie and Reiner seemed to enjoy killing. He completely reversed their personalities in the name of “character development” and a “tragic backstory.”

Isayama seemed to reframe the earlier seasons—especially the brutality of Annie and Reiner—as if we were supposed to suddenly empathize and forget what they actually did.

In the beginning, Annie enjoyed toying with the Scouts, and Reiner was living this twisted double life, lying to everyone while literally crushing people like it was just another day. And then suddenly we're supposed to see them as tragic heroes? Like, sure, give them depth—but don't act like their earlier actions weren’t downright sadistic.

It’s not that tragic backstories don’t work—Reiner’s mental collapse was compelling—but it felt like the writing started asking for too much forgiveness without holding them truly accountable. It’s like Isayama wanted to humanize the devils so badly, he kind of rewrote the rules of who they were to begin with.

Very nice film!!
The part of prelude, the part of action, the part of drama and the post-credits, all them were cool, and to me, the story was closed with a idea...
....maybe Eren was a mistake, but it his way!!!
Post-credits scene the 3 kids spoke about future in 100 years and a sequel... could be it possible in a future?

I enjoyed!

A small rewatch of S4, which is one of the masterpieces of humankind throughout anime history. The long series—which is even divided into two parts + final chapters—is now packed into a shorter version but still maintains the important content of the story. In fact, not only the storyline in general, there are still many details in the show. Anyways, all we're waiting for is the post-credit scene!

Finally finished the FIFTH recap movie. (And I thought haikyuu was bad with recaps) 2 hours each with this movie being 2 hours and 24 minutes means to just watch the recaps it's over 10 hours..... Anyway it's over now. AOT was a good show, maybe 7.5/10 for the base show but with everything included it's probably a 6. Ending scene was alright that's all.
