As the title states, Im curious to know what peoples favorite year for anime is. I would say the start date is what counts for what year a series or movie fall under.

My favorite year at the moment would be '83
Crusher Joe
Votoms
Aura Battle Dunbine
SDC Orguss

The early 80's as a whole are my favorite but this years has some of my favorite titles.

How curious, mine would be 1986 too. My favorites from that year:

Dragonball, Maison Ikkoku, Hikari no Densetsu, Baribari Densetsu, Castle in the Sky, Dirty Pair: Project Eden.

It would be hard for me to pick a favorite era, the 70's and the 80's had so many great anime scattered throughout. I love the heavily detailed late 80's style, with multiple layers of shadows, flashy animation and effects, but I also love the 70's style, with all the sharp lines and the characters with sparkly eyes.

I like the style that Yas and Tomino's go to guy in the 80's (Koguwa?) championed in the first half of the 80's.
I think Yas's style was perfect at Giant Gorg. His modern stuff shows he has been doing comics too long, his characters are about 1 1/2 heads tallers and it doesnt work as well in my opinion.

I also cheated a bit and listed Orguss before I had seen it figuring it was at least decent. I have to say it was pretty horrid in everything but the animation.

Maison Ikkoku would be perfect if it was about two seasons shorter.

Lots of choices here... but maybe I'd go with 1988, which had Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu, City Hunter 2, Hotaru no Haka, Gunbuster, Akira and a the first KOR movie.

and Tonari no Totoro, but I actually didn't really like that famous Miyazaki movie

1988

Akira, City Hunter, Grave Of Fireflies, Gunbuster, Legend Of The Galactic Heroes, Mobile Police Patlabor, Totoro and the final chapter of Orange Road.

Great quality.

1985 for me

Megazone 23
Zeta Gundam
Area 88
Iczer 1
Genmu Senki Leda
Angel's Egg
SPT Layzner
Dream Hunter Rem

And there is stuff like Vampire Hunter D, Time Etranger, Dancougar, Touch, and Dagger of Kamui that I have yet to see but look really promising

88 could probably tie it on some days though.

LOGH
Dragon's Heaven
Char's Counter Attack
Patlabor
Dominion
Akira
Gunbuster
Zeorymer

Plus a lot of promising stuff I've yet to see as well.

1986 because it was the year my 2 favorite shows of all time (Dragon Ball and Saint Seiya) were born.
