What manga would you like to see get an anime? Feel free to include choices you would make for staff, studio, etc.

My Picks:

#1 Kimi to Tsuzuru Utakata (The Summer You Were There)

This needs an anime, and I think it will get one some day. I would like to see KyoAni adapt it. They can put the yuri bait memes behind them and they have a history of adapting stuff like this (Key VN's, Clannad, etc). They have a history of elevating their sources to the next level, which would be a nice change to recent yuri adaptations *SasaKoi cough*

#2 Tsukiatte Agetemo Ii kana (How Do We Relationship?)

Surely this comes as no surprise to anyone as it's my favorite manga. It would make a great anime. The world is ready for it, but it seems Japan at large is not.

#3 Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna (She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat)

This already has a live action adaptation and it would be pretty safe and probably be on the easier side to animate.

#4 Amayo no Tsuki (The Moon on a Rainy Night)

It's getting an anime, but we don't know who is making it or any of the staff yet. I'm cautiously optimistic. I need a cool and haunting voice for Kanon. I can dream of Yuuki Aoi like her Boogiepop or Lucy(Cyberpunk Edgerunners). There are certainly plenty of other seiyuu who could do a good job though.

#5 Kitanai Kimi ga Ichiban Kawaii (I Love Your Cruddy...)

This might be a personal bias, but this one would be really fun to see. Shock value and edgy stuff still has a place in anime.

Honorable mentions:

Lonely Girl ni Sakaraenai (I Can't Say No to the Lonely Girl), Anemone wa Netsu wo Obiru (The Anemone Feels the Heat) - these are safe adaptations.

Things I think personally would be Fun:

Kyou, Koshiba Aoi ni Aetara (Chasing After Aoi Koshiba), Kyou wa Kanojo ga Inai kara (My Girlfriend's Not Here Today) - Just me wanting toxic yuri.

You must be kidding me. I have to choose one?

Well, Amayo no Tsuki gets one already, so there's no point arguing about that.

As for the others, well, I was pretty torn between The Summer You Were There and KitaKawa, but in the end, my dark side won, so KitaKawa it is.

There is also this reasoning. I've calculated that one anime cour roughly corresponds to five manga volumes if adapted faithfully. This, by the way, means that we won't get a normal Amayo no Tsuki adaptation unless they cut corners and make it look worse. But The Summer and KitaKawa fit this requirement perfectly. These stories can be told in full within a single season. As much as I love HDWR, there is not a single chance it can get a faithful adaptation unless they make it three cours long.

These are just my choices. You can choose anything you want :P

I think HDWR would be good because it gets into it very quickly. Amayo no Tsuki is great, but at the same time, the level of romantic development will likely feel a bit disappointing. We'll see though. The manga is getting there.

Huh, if you put it like that...

I sure would love to see an anime based on everything you've listed.

As for other titles, well, Murcielago could be a reasonably popular anime with all its shounen aesthetics. I'd love to see anything by Sal Jiang adapted as well, but her current series would probably be the best contender, as it's unbelievably epic.

If we talk about yuri with a more "classic" feel, an anthology series based on Takemiya Jin's manga would be absolutely lovely. The Tale of the Unforgetting Witch is also very anime-worthy. And I'd probably add that one by Mikami Teren with the unbearably long title, Onna Doushi to ka Arienai deshou to Iiharu Onna no ko wo, Hyakunichi kan de Tetteiteki ni Otosu Yuri no Ohanashi (aka Arioto). Even though there is some stuff that is typical of Mikami Teren's works, which can make it dubious to some.

Yeah, Takemiya Jin is a goddess. I think she actually makes my favorite characters and dialogue in pretty much anything. Badass women with believable flaws. Some of those lines have so much power too. It's a shame that there isn't a work of hers that has proper development and an actual story. The art is also uh...a bit inconsistent. If we could've just got something that was even 5 volumes then maybe it would make sense to make an anime.

Arioto...oof. If you like it, that's great. It's fiction, so I'm not trying to judge.

I think 'Unforgettable Witch' would be liked by a lot of people. The whole time travely ground hog day stuff seems to get people (Re:zero, Tokyo Revengers, Steins Gate, etc). My issue with it is that the MC is utterly overpowered, doesn't realize it, and just cries about it. She repeats days 3-5x. She could be world-class at anything she wants. She could learn new skills/tech and get an amazing job. She could even be a world-class musician or artist(she is actually skilled at the latter due to her repetitions). Literally anything she wants to do or has an interest in she would be great at, but she just cries about it. It has some huge plot holes imo. This is my personal gripe, I can see why it's so beloved though. It has...emotional impact.

Not only do I agree that Takemiya Jin is a goddess, but she is also someone very important to me. Omoi no Kakera was something that, no way around it, saved me during very dark days. But it's true that she has never released anything long enough to fit the anime constraints, so that's why I think an anthology series could make up for that. And I would really be interested to see how her distinctive art style can be adapted to another medium. I know it's a bit of a divisive point for many of us, but I fell in love with her art even before I realized how great her stories were.

As for Arioto, well, it's not like I like it per se. Just like anything by Mikami Teren, it has a truckload of moments that don't sit right with me (Watanare is a pinnacle of that if you ask me, and I hear it gets an adaptation). I could discuss at length what I think is wrong with Mikami Teren's works, but to avoid another rant, I'll limit myself to saying that they are blatant yuri exploitation, pretty much like there was a "blaxploitation" movie scene in the 1970s. So, my point is not that it's good per se; it's that it can easily be adapted into anime and bring new people to the fandom, pretty much like Citrus did last decade (and, if I'm honest, I don't enjoy this series much).

As for the Witch, well, I see where you're coming from, but let me offer you a different perspective. I agree that she could have used this ability to become much more than what she actually became, but that would require her to have a completely different mindset—one where she doesn't spend much of her lifeblood and time on self-loathing. There are many extremely talented people who, despite not being literally stuck in a Groundhog Day situation, feel like they are, they feel their potential getting squandered, they feel that the lack of human connection is slowly killing them. It's true that their failure to reach something greater stems from this emotional background, and, in a sense, they are the cause of their own Groundhog Day. But, I don't know, that is why I find this all quite relatable. Or at least highly believable. And I also know all too well that true love, while hardly the only way to do so, is still something that can break the walls inside such a person and help them finally reach for the stars instead of wallowing in self-hatred and self-pity. And you know, even in the literal Groundhog Day, the protagonist ended up using all this endless time to improve himself because he really fell for that girl and understood he had to become truly worthy of her.
