| OVA with 6 episodes, it takes place during the first anime, so much so that the Zeons are incredulous with the rumors that someone from the federation has a mobile suit that has already defeated countless Zeon mobile suits. The story is easy-going, about a Zeon soldier infiltrating a neutral colony and accidentally making friends with the locals. I found it annoying that the boy was helping the Zeon soldiers like a fool, but then I understood that the series wanted to show that there are no good guys or bad guys in this war, just like they did in some episodes of the original series. The ending is surprising, because you think it was going to be one thing and it ended up being another, even a bit cruel. Visually it is very beautiful, on par with Char's film. There is also a level of violence that is not normally seen in the series. |

| I wanna call Bernie’s death pointless, but deep down I feel like no matter what, he was determined to fight Chris and die for his pride. Even if he knew the war was over, I still think he fights her that day. What really fucks with me is Chris not knowing she killed him and telling Al to tell Bernie bye.. this episode really felt like it summed up the entire series “war in the pocket”. Al’s secret war he’s been fighting with Bernie against the federation has come to an end and no one even knows why Al is so upset. It’s so fucked up. His own friends are hoping another war starts and Al’s seen so much loss in this one. Brilliant writing. |

| I only have two questions. Why was the music so cheerful and energetic even during the most tragic and dramatic moments? And was the show's depiction of children so grating on purpose? I understand he didn't know all the nuances and context of the Federation-Zeon war, but oh my god. The guy was literally one step away from full-scale collaboration, if he hadn't already. @Comander-07 Your typical anime forum :D. But seriously, I really like how Tomino depicts the senselessness of human death in war and the lack of plot armor in real life. Well, at least if your name isn't Suletta or Kira. It really makes you care about the characters and get involved in the story on an emotional level. |
