'Kanojo, Okarishimasu' Fifth Season Announced for 2026

The official website of the Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent-a-Girlfriend) television anime announced a fifth season on Friday, scheduled for a 2026 premiere. The character designer, Kanna Hirayama, drew an illustration to commemorate the announcement (pictured).

Produced by TMS Entertainment, the 12-episode first season aired in Summer 2020, followed by the second and third season in Summer 2022 and Summer 2023. The fourth and latest season premiered on July 5 and ended with the 12th episode on Tuesday. Crunchyroll simulcasted all seasons with multiple subtitles and dubs.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu, also known as KanoKari, adapts Reiji Miyajima's romantic comedy manga, which began serializing in Weekly Shounen Magazine in July 2017. Kodansha published the 42th volume on September 17.

Miyajima began drawing the Kanojo, Hitomishirimasu (Rent-A-(Really Shy!)-Girlfriend) spin-off manga on the Magazine pocket app in June 2020. The third volume was released in May 2022.

Kodansha USA licensed both the original and spin-off manga in July 2019 and March 2021, respectively. The 32nd volume went on sale on August 19, with the 33rd volume scheduled for an October 21 release. The third spin-off volume was released in November 2022.

Never heard about it before, but I've seen a lot of negative things and rumors about this anime and manga on Youtube. Should I watch the previous seasons? Maybe. But is it worth it?

Nothing quite like a romance anime needing 5 seasons to get the protagonist to admit his love.

Instead of watching 5 seasons of this show. Watch the dangers in my heart. That show rocked.

@Vene Typical case of people hating a show they don't watch, but said show having so many watchers it keeps making money, which then only fuels even more hatred from people who still don't watch it.

@Vene This is a case where things have become so personal that people have forgotten why they disliked them in the first place. Hatred that has become a habit.

@Attackonfiller This show will likely never get a sequel for a variety of reasons, so people are having fun complaining about the lack of a sequel at every opportunity. Even though just a few months ago, industry insiders were giving insights into why.
