Hi there, so sorry it took me so long to reply!! I will try faster next time, just you know I didn't forget.
Ah it's okay! I know life can get in the way. There are more important things out there than posting on an anime forum lol.

I read both Legends & Lattes and Bookshops & Bonedust (prequel) and I love these books! Especially the prequel was so good! This is so cozy and sweet that you want to stay home, east cinammon rolls, drink coffee etc. Also I absolutely loved the characters! Third book is out already and I am waiting forward to read it too! Recommend if you like fantasy but want to read something calm instead of fights and blood, there are some fights in the prequel thought and I think it's perfectly balanced between coziness and intrigues :)
Great! Legends & Lattes is on my PTR list, I hadn't heard of the other one though, so you gave me another entry. I do enjoy good SOL too so yeah I should kick it up my list.

Isn't Powder Mage more like military fantasy? Cover seems to be one of those and I don't think it's my cup of tea.
It's part that, part more mystery and part more classic fantasy tropes of gods fighting etc. I did finish it, though I like the first book more than the 2nd and 3rd.

I've also heard good stuff about The Sun Eater! Seems interesting too, I just wonder if it's not science fiction full of typical science facts, I don't really like when it takes too much space in the book.
Christopher Ruocchio, the author, literally said in an interview that he wrote this story for fantasy fans. Partially that was for cynical reasons, as he knew fantasy sells more than sci fi, though he does want to write like later science fiction authors that focused on characters, rather than scientific concepts. It's definitely more space opera, than pure sci fi. Some scientific concepts like time dilation are explored, however, not in significant depth.

I have read the first book, and first novella, it's quite good. The entire book though is written though like an autobiography, by the MC far far into the future. Christopher was kinda going for Caesar writing about his campaigns and political life, and it does show. The MC also isn't entirely reliable though, less in a you are being lied to, and more the MC is biased, which is colouring his impressions of real life stuff that did happen.I think how much you enjoy that novel, depends on how much you enjoy that POV. I personally really like the MC's musings, it's fun, others might find it tiresome. That said, the first novella is written in the classic third person sense, and while I enjoyed it, I missed Hadrian.

First book is pretty slow, though I like slow built up stories, where the MC literally starts from the bottom (in this case start from the top, then end up at the bottom). Fans tend to say the first book is the worst (it's often just seen as a super long prologue), and the second book is one of the best. I really loved the first book, so I will see how book 2 goes, though of the few chapters I have read, there is more action.

What do you mean by 40k books? Warhammer 40,000? Heard good stuff about this one too.
Yeah they are pretty fun. Half of it is military sci fi, which you may not like however, you do have gothic horror esque stories, classic mystery detective stories etc. Games like Rogue Trader, are also doing a great job showing off the various narratives 40k can do, even if it is guided by a lot of military sci fi tropes. I do like military sci fi a lot, and I enjoy in 40k, that said the Gothic Horror/mystery aspects is what I love the most...in that universe at least.

Life has been pretty busy with the holidays approaching. Once Halloween is over, I'm going to start Christmas shopping.

I understand him. I'm also afraid of flying, even though I travel a lot. I usually fly private of first class and I will say it helps with my anxiety of flying because it has larger seat and more space and not crowded.

I'm just watching way too many anime this season. But it's better to watch them that regret missing out.

Are you on a break from Mal?

Hey, fellow anime soul! How are you doing? what’s your plans for the summer anime season ?”

Both a boy and girl. Having twins can be exhausting, but I'm grateful that it is twins and not triplets.
We just got back from Hawaii yesterday, and it was so much fun and all, but I'm so happy to be home. I love traveling, but I really hate long flight.

I'll be trying Fourth Wing shortly probably, though I am afraid due to amount of so many different opinions.
Oh yeah, I have heard a lot about that one, I need to try some romantasy sometime.

Cozy fantasy, like Legends and Lattes, seems to be on top lately too, need to try one of these.
Yeah, I was also interested in this one, it would be cool to see more fantasy books or Sci Fi books, for that matter, get into the SOL genre.

How about you?
I almost finished the second Powder Mage book. I am enjoying it, though not as much as the first one, I didn't like how they kinda whisked away a magical condition one of the characters was facing. Basically, he had a magical mark imparted which would encourage him to kill one of the major characters, on pain of death. They found a technicality out of it though, which was kinda anticlimactic to me. Still, there are some cool plot lines with the MC trying to get his army to escape a foreign land after another traitor compromised their position. It's also a world where the gods of yore, have been revived and one of them is out for the MC since he wounded him. I am curious how that is going to be resolved.

After this, I am going to pick up the Suneater Books, since I have heard so much praise for them and it's kinda up my alley (I like Dune, Space Feudal settings). Which speaking of even though I vowed to get away from 40k books for a bit, the recent Dark Heresy RPG announcement got me to reconsider lol. I probably will just read a novella I have yet to get around to or a standalone book. Been meaning to read Requiem Infernal.

So much has happened! It has already been 3 months since the twins has been born. They're already starting to roll over and can lift their head by themselves.

My husband and I are heading to Hawaii on the 22nd for my sister and her fiancé joint bachelor/bachelorette trip. So excited!!! I even bought some new outfits for the trip and 2 new pair of bikinis.
