This was pretty garbage. And it's such a waste too, since the first episode set up the world up so well. I mean an alternate WW1 universe with mechs and zeppelins, it could've been so sick.
Now I don't want to write a super detailed review on this, but it handles like a typical modern Disney film, with the typical lesbian involved, the simple lessons learned, and previously stated, wasted potential. I mean for one, take the Sultan shown around episode 6, when Mr. Sharp first meets him, he's hyped up to be a main antagonist, with
...
a giant mech behind him handling the negotiations. But what happens to the Sultan? He's just forgotten about. This could've been an epic and excellent way to show off Alex's handling of the mech and his care for freeing the ottoman people, especially with how much the Sultan's mech was hyped up, even being in the opening. And I'm only mentioning this example here, but there's so many other unexplored routes that could've happened.
Animation is okay for 3d animation, but that's not saying much considering just how bad most 3d animation looks, but I guess it doesn't hamper the show too much.
The main character Alexender also doesn't make much sense, it's shown that he truly loved his mother and father, yet when their killed he's only depressed for a few episodes, then it just kind of ends. Again, wasted potential here, this could've been an amazing way to deal with revenge and letting things ago. This also applies to when Klopp dies.
Now I do want to mention that this is an adaptation of a book from 2007, so I can't blame the director and animation studios too much. I haven't read the book, so it could amazing compared to the anime, or even worse.
So, to summarize, this anime is wasted potential. With an amazing first episode, yet with the rest of the show failing to follow through, ultimately falling apart. And in the first episode, Alexender is shown to talented. He's playing chess with himself, which would signal to the viewer that he's at least somewhat of a strategist, but no. No revenge or hatred on Serbia for his parents' death, no hatred for the Sultan's men killing Klopp... I mean seriously? So, for my final rating, it's extremely mid, being a 5/10 and I'd only recommend this if you like the visuals.
(P.S tho, the piano intro song is amazing)

I wouldn’t recommend this show. I mean, the show was actually really good up until episode 10, but after that it kinda fell apart, with a lackluster ending.
First off, the main character is so lame, he loses to two different girls in a fight, and it’s not even like that’s the problem. It looks like he just doesn’t care, his girl is getting attacked, and he’s just sitting there on the floor. Like dude, what are you doing. And to be honest, I don’t even remember his name, I don’t think he had anything that was overall interesting about him.
Then the main girl, Mei,
...
I mean spoilers ahead but that should be obvious. SHE KNEW THE WHOLE TIME! She knew who the imposter was with her nonsensical eye ability that lets her see death. The reason for her not telling anyone was that she didn’t want to hurt the MC since the imposter was his aunt. Like people are being killed, her sister died, this girl gets stabbed with a umbrella, she visually sees a guy get grinded by a boat rudder, and she’s just like, yea this is fine. Like screw this girl bro, looking back now I don’t even blame the MC not protecting her in the final fights 😂
Going back to her aunt, it was only revealed in episode 12 that she was the home room teacher, now we know there were hints she was dead, just not that she was a teacher. So great job author.
Another thing with this aunt of his, is towards the beginning of episode 11, she’s stabbed with a broom right in front of the MC, appearing to be dead, yet we see no reaction from him, he just walks off, leaving her there. Like dude, WHAT? And then the next episode when he has to k^ll her for being the doubler, he hesitates? Like bro you just saw her get stabbed, and you did nothing then, why would you care now?
So to recap, a 9/10 show up until the ending, which for me is a 4/10, bringing the average score to around a 7.

My god this is overrated. Boring characters, boring plot, boring story. They spent an entire episode looking for a flower, I mean seriously. This anime is just like any other garbage fantasy anime slop.
The only people who like shows like this, are the reddit and twitter 'philosophers' who think a show is deep just because its slow, and because the characters talk in mundane voices. I mean seriously, this in no way deserves 1st place on my anime list, I dropped it 3 times and only finished on the 4th watch. I would not recommend this to anyone, it is boring, and is not

deserving of the praise or attention the anime got.
